The Lions Gate wastewater treament plant is renowned as a community amenity bringing value to the neighborhoods it serves, and it became known as a “fresh water and energy generation plant, producing nutrients for the surrounding gardens that are so beautiful that people want to go there to get married”, as opposed to a hidden or undesirable sewage treatment facility.

As a multi-functional project, the center will be focused around not only the farmer’s market but also providing the community with educational resources including test gardens, a teaching lab and programs for culinary arts.

Trent Preserve is a unique and special landscape in eastern North Carolina, with a future use as a children's education center. Demonstrating the importance of "biophilia" in conserved and restored native forest, meadow, wetland and riverbank landscapes, Trent Preserve will also begin development of light impact agroforestry and other forms of perennial agriculture.

The design team created buffers necessary to preserve habitat in the Draper Lake, the surrounding wetlands, and the native scrub vegetation.
RVI
Park improvements blend the built environment within the landscape, highlighted by the habitat restoration of the three springs to promote the recolonization of the endangered Georgetown Salamander. After a 30-year absence, the species was recently confirmed at the site.
