To co-create a thriving community
that equitably reintegrates aspects of
ecology, housing, food, education, energy, water,
and commerce, in the Spirit of this Place.
To steward and foster, in design and ongoing lifecycles, an uplifting of the vitality, viability, evolutionary capacity, and capability to experience joy, health, and self-actualization, starting with the local community, human and otherwise, and expanding to newcomers arriving with the same intentions and potential.
To restore self-directing capability and health of the local eco-system via
the development of this project, and in reciprocal support of its ability to do so.
To provide creative new approaches to housing ownership, access, pathways to future ownership and wealth generating capability, as well as mixes of income, race, ethnicity, mobility, traditions, and age.
To develop and set-up self-evolving capability of an ecologically, economically, culturally integrated human (and beyond) food system that reflects original wisdom and approaches, as well as complimentary modern innovations, netting a surplus of revenue generating produce after on-site nutritional needs are met.
To integrate regional learning at all levels into all of the systems of the site, during their ongoing design, operation, maintenance, and evolution.
1. To foster the autonomy, agency, sovereignty, innovation, and wealth-
generating capability of all members of the region and incubating through the project new forms of ownership and stewardship of the place and the businesses and other activities that nourish it.
2. To produce a substantial financial return for the initial financial investors, who through providing the flow of monetary resources enable the other goals to be pursued, and such that they are able to exit ownership as they wish, and/or stay on and see the development through to its fruition of all other goals.
To develop additional community assets, support and exchange systems, as well as additional revenue sources for local living economy in keeping with all other functional performance goals.
To set up systems that allow all site activities to operate within the site's natural water budget, and while integrated with modern human presence still restore the patterns of natural hydrology, and design to resilience and even "thrivability" in the face of significant water system volatility and disruption.
To set up systems that allow all site activities to operate within the site's natural energy budget, and design to resilience and even "thrivability" in the face of significant climate volatility and disruption; yielding a significant surplus of revenue generating energy products after on-site energy needs are met.
To believe until thoroughly tested and demonstrated otherwise, that in fact
none of these goals are actually mutually exclusive, at this time, in this place,
with this team, and its other stakeholders. And to use all our powers of creativity and forethought, and even identifying risks, hazards, and difficulties, as on the way to a reconciling set of ideas, as opposed to reasons it can't work.
Our team members have all proven at least one of the aspects above to be true and possible. That said this project endeavors to accomplish all of these things, and in concert. We believe there will be compounding benefits among them and that it will actually be easier to do than to pull these things apart and try to "fix" each issue individually. We are confident in this not only because of empirical evidence of what's technically possible, but also because of the unique, extraordinary mix of talent and perspective between our team and the other incredible wisdom holders and practice leaders already working hard across all these issues in Robeson County and Lumberton within it.
